U13s got one over Zingari 🏏
9 Jul by Jon Boyton
The U13s visited Hull Zingari tonight in their penultimate fixture of the season.
After losing the toss and being put into bat for the first time this season, we took a bit to get going. Our opening pairs found it difficult to read the flight and line of Zingari’s slower bowling.
Eventually we started to hit some runs and boundaries. Kurtis got us going with 8 runs before a 33 run partnership between Caleb (13) and Ben (13).
Zingari had a lot of younger players starting their cricketing journeys but showed lots of enthusiasm in the field to stops lots of runs.
We set Zingari a challenging target to chase.
Zingari found it difficult against some consistent bowling and flashes of some excellent fielding – taking 14 wickets in total.
Brooke had the best figures of 2 wickets for 7 runs off her 2 overs. Flynn and Sam both took 2 wickets each, with single wickets for Holly, Caleb, and George.
There was also some tight bowling from James F and Ben who both only conceded 5 runs in their 2 overs.
There were also 4 run outs with Brooke’s being the pick with a throw from Point (it’s 90 degrees to the wickets so you only have 1 stump to aim at!).
Special mention to a true team player – James T ⭐️
With having all 11 players who have played the majority of games this season, I felt it was unfair to leave someone out. James sacrificed batting tonight in exchange for wicket keeping the full innings. Had did a fantastic job behind the stumps and has really progressed in the position over the season.
In the end it was a comfortable win for Sutton, but a good show from the newer Zingari players who will get better the more games they play 👏👏👏
That’s a 5th win from 7 games. Only 1 game to go against a very strong Beverley team, which I’m sure will be a good test 🏏
