U11s v Cottingham match report

17 Jul by Jonathan Barker

The under 11s played their final game of the season on Thursday night with a home match against Cottingham.

In what was always going to be a difficult game against a Cottingham team that had recently won the u11s cup final, Sutton fielded first.

A good bowling performance and probably the best fielding of the season saw Sutton restrict Cottingham to 181. There were wickets for Sam O and Chloe along with a run out for Oliver B. Special mention for Aarav who took 3 wickets in his 2 overs and also took a catch.

Sutton tried their best throughout their innings but accurate bowling and some good catches meant the team lost wickets at regular intervals meaning they struggled to get close to the Cottingham total finishing on 122.

A huge well done to the under 11s this season. The team are a mix of experienced players and some that have only started playing cricket this season. They’ve had wins and losses but throughout they’ve had an amazing team spirit, always encouraged each other and played with a smile on their faces.

A huge thank you to all the parents for your support this season 🏏
