Hello Everyone
After a successful pilot last year with U9 to U12 boys we will be extending our winter coaching programme in 2026. The programme is targeted at players who are of a standard to be considered for the representative teams. The objectives are
Give players an opportunity to face others of a similar standard that they might not always get at club nets
Provide specialist coaching for their skillset
Build team spirit for the representative matches in the summer
Allow team mangers to assess the abilities of the players
All the sessions will be at
Sirius North Academy on Hall Rd in Hull.To start with we will be holding observation days before Christmas. This is an opportunity for players to come and display their skills. These are open to players who haven’t played in representative cricket before as well as those who have been part of the teams in 2025. After the observations, selected players will be invited to the sessions that will take place after Christmas. Players who are not able to attend the observations may still be invited to the programme on the basis of past performance. So please nominate these players as well.
Players that are invited by Yorkshire to the second stage of the East and Central observations will not be able to attend the EYJCL observations because of the clash of dates. These players will be automatically given an invitation to the EYJCL programmes.
There is no set limit to how many people can be invited in each age group – we can invite any player that is deemed to benefit from being involved.
Being invited to the programme should not be seen as being ‘selected’ for the rep teams in the summer, likewise not being invited or not being available to attend should not be seen as being ‘excluded’ from the summer.
Further observation days will be held in the summer to make sure every player has an opportunity.
Final selections for the programme and the summer teams will be based on a range of evidence including previous performance for representative teams, performance in the winter programme, performance at observation days, performance in club matches, performance in adult matches (for older age groups), feedback from other organisations e.g. Yorkshire
Please be realistic when nominating players. They should be performing above average at their age group in club matches and have some experience in ‘hardball’ cricket.
If there are players who are of a good standard who are not available for the observations or the programme please make us aware of them.
